November 19th, 2011.
The evening started out at the Hard Rock Cafe with a dinner, and some adult holy water. You can never go wrong with the Rib dinner.
Then, it was off to the Hockey game, with the Lake Erie Monsters vs. the Peoria Rivermen. Pleased to say, 35 of our 130 club members were able to attend.
There are always some interesting characters hanging out in “the tunnel” that connects Tower City and the Q. But, that could be a whole post in itself.
The night was set aside for local charities. The Monsters sponsored a Hunger and Homeless Awareness Night. Volunteers and employees of the Cleveland Foodbank, North Coast Parrot Head Club, Cogswell Hall, EDEN Inc., the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, and Transitional Housing put efforts forth in this event to recognize the National Homeless and Hunger Awareness Month. Fans were encouraged to bring to the game new personal hygiene items or winter items (toothpaste, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, hats, gloves, etc.). And all the boxes were filled. If you brought in items to be donated, You’d receive a free chuck-a-puck with your donation.
Chuck a puck is sponsored by The Ohio Lottery. You turn in hygiene items and they give you sponge pucks to throw in the ice (after the game) to earn a chance to win various prizes. (No one in our group won, and we cant blame it on the Margaritas)
Then, it was off to Wexlers Tavern and Eatery (our home, 4555 State Road) in Old Brooklyn for their 1 year grand re-opening anniversary. There is nothing like seeing a home town eatery filled wall to wall with people having a great time. If you get a chance, stop on by, and tell them we sent you.
The Monsters won 3-2.
And, the Browns pull one out today to beat the Jags 14-10.
