2016 Phlocking details

Good news phriends! Thanks to our friends at Put-in-Bay’s Reel Bar, the 22nd annual Phlocking of the Phaithful is still on with a revised plan!
The Reel Bar has booked a slate of great entertainment for this year’s Phlocking ! And we still have at least some of the originally planned entertainers on board.
Appearing Thursday through Saturday will be John Reno (Gulf Shores), Mike Broward (from Stars on the Water band, solo artist- from Nashville) and Toledo’s Boudreaux’s Back Porch, featuring J Hanson, formerly of the Junkanoo Brothers!
Good news! There will be no need for advance registration ! As stated in Steve’s earlier notice, if you had already registered, you’ll be getting your refund from Steve in the next few weeks.

This year there will simply be a $10 cover charge per day! If you see one show on any given day during the weekend, your $10 cover will apply to that entire day’s entertainment. The schedule will be set up to allow for time to catch other great performers on the island, including longtime Phlocking entertainers Bob Banerjee & Corned Beef & Curry @ the Boardwalk on Friday and Saturday nights !

Our friend Ray Fogg has graciously agreed to cancel his Friday night show to make room for us. But, for those who still want to catch Ray’s show, he will still appear at Reel Bar on Saturday night!

It is still being worked out, but John Reno will likely be doing a special pre-phlocking party show on Wednesday night. Also, we will cap things off Sunday by bringing back the songwriters brunch!

The Reel Bar has an excellent sound system. It is an intimate showroom offering a great opportunity to hear these acts and just the right size for us Phlockers to fill the place up! It holds up to about 100. Have you been to PIB, but not sure where Reel bar is? It is located right around the corner from Beer Barrel Saloon, and across the street from the grocery/beverage store, and the Level 2 night club. For PIB old timers, its the old Tony’s Place. The food is great and they have a nice selection of craft brews on tap!
Address is 461 Catawba avenue. Web site is: reel bar dot com or find them here on FB

If you haven’t already, book your lodging reservations and get ready to party with your phriends!

More info and exact schedules will follow soon!

Big thanks to Ray Fogg & Andy @ the Reel Bar for keeping the Phlocking alive ! Hope to see many of you there @ Put in Bay, June 9-12 !!

The Sauce Boss returns to Cleveland

Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton brings his own hot sauce to every gig, and he cooks a big pot of gumbo, while smoking his slide guitar. At the end of the Show, everyone gets a bowl. Now he’s added some new flavors to the “stew”. Sauce Boss not only plays slide, sings his tamales off, makes gumbo, and feeds everybody… he also plays a drum kit with his feet. “You take that 53 Telecaster, pump it through that 48 Fender amp, add a bass rig, mix in some drums, all simmered down over some funky swamp blues, and smothered with gumbo, and you got a recipe for the largest one-man band on the planet.”

Jimmy Buffett sings a song about him. Parrotheads love him. The gumbo – heaven on earth.

Come join us, as we hear the Sauce Boss sing the blues, and do some story telling. He will play for gumbo.

Saturday, June 27th, 2015. 9pm

812 Huron Road East, Cleveland, OH (United States) – Map
(216) 902-4663

$10 donation at the door.

Kid Conch House Concert

Presented by the North Coast Parrot Head Club.

Bring a chair, bring some drinks, bring some phriends. Kid Conch is coming to town.  He will be at the No Name Yard in Brunswick, Ohio, on June 18th.. 7pm.

Open to all club members and their guests.

Part beach bum, part hippie, part gypsy, part country boy, Kid Conch’s music spans genres, but reflects his love of the tropical lifestyle, blending beach rock and surf rock, reggae and calypso, Cajun and blues, R&B and soul, country and western, and rock and roll into a signature sound based around his dynamic, soul-filled guitar playing. He’s as comfortable strumming a steel-string acoustic guitar at a sidewalk cafe as he is slinging an electric guitar in front of show band.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day: (first called Decoration Day)
It’s not Veterans Day. It’s not military appreciation day. Don’t thank me for my service. It’s “take the time to pay homage to the men and women who died while wearing the cloth of this nation you’re so freely enjoying today, day.”
Beaches, beats and BBQs. No
The start of summer. No
A day off work. No
The 30th day of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet church-yard in the land. In this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.
Today is the one day on the American calendar meant to exemplify what it costs to be American and to be free.
